The innovation engine for new materials

For Teachers

The MRL provides opportunities for teachers to participate in laboratory research and develop leading-edge curriculum projects.  The MRL also hosts an annual workshop for intermediate, middle and high school science teachers.  These projects and our “resources for teachers” are continually updated so check back soon!

Research Experience for Teachers (RET)
Science teachers participate in laboratory research under the mentorship of graduate, post-doctoral and faculty researchers. These teachers return for a second summer to translate their research experiences and curriculum interests into classroom resources. All of the curriculum projects are archived on our website in a database.

Models and Materials
This teacher professional development program brings together teams of art and science teachers from local junior high and high schools to work together on developing curriculum projects that are in line with the state standards for art and science.

Workshops
The MRL hosts a day-long Science Teacher Workshop every March on a variety of topics related to science education, outreach and teacher professional development.

Resources for Teachers
MRL outreach staff and scientists continually contribute ideas and resources on topics applying towards general science, the classic science disciplines and materials science.
